Goodbye Patrice

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful Patrice.

Patrice was being treated by small animal specialists for some mild respiratory issues and urinary problems, but two weeks ago she was diagnosed with Cavian Leukaemia. We were treating her pain and over the last two weeks she seemed happy: affectionate, energetic and (very) enthusiastic about food and vegetable treats. Last Thursday night, however, she went down hill very quickly and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye.

Thank you for all your support and friendship. We have so many wonderful photographs of Patrice, so we will continue posting in memory of our wonderful, beautiful girl.

The Princess and the Pea

Patrice has an enclosure with two separate compartments. One is her dining and playing area, and the other is her sleeping area. She is quite messy in her dining area but very neat in her bedroom. This is very instinctual. We keep a clean pet bed in her sleeping area which provides comfort and warmth. She doesn’t go to the toilet in this area, as she knows that she will be resting in there later on. Sometimes, there is an accident, so it is important to buy a machine washable pet bed.
