You may notice that Chanel’s fur has a few white specks in this photo. Using the heater to excess can cause has dry skin so we reduced our heater usage so that her skin goes back to normal. We have added lots of soft, clean blankets to her enclosure.
As they find safety in numbers, wild guinea pigs usually live in a large herd. If a guinea pig is faced with a predator, they will usually run about different directions to confuse the predator, become rigid or warn other guinea pigs by expressing a high-pitched squeal.
Grace was nervous when she moved into our home, so we thought it might be a good idea for her to be handled by our house guests. They fed her lots of vegetable treats and handled her softly. Now, she’s very confident around humans, and loves to have a cuddle with new friends!
Use soft and absorbent bedding in your guinea pigs’ enclosure to keep your pets’ foot pads smooth. Every 1-2 days, change their bedding so that foot disease doesn’t occur.
